QENOS' JEROEN WASSENAAR WINS ASTT YOUNG PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD

16 September 2019, ALTONA

Qenos is thrilled to announce that our Market Segment Manager for Pipe, Dairy & Blow Moulding - Jeroen Wassenaar - won the prestigious ASTT Young Person of the Year Award at the No-Dig Down Under Conference and Convention 2019 awards gala held in Melbourne 12 September.

The Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology (ASTT) recognises Jeroen’s ongoing contribution to the advancement of trenchless technology through sharing expertise on polyethylene used in pipes for trenchless installations. He has presented numerous case studies and technical papers particularly on high stress crack resistant polyethylene (PE100 HSCR) at ASTT national conferences and technical forums.

Furthermore, he organised workshops for asset owners and polyethylene pipe manufacturers to increase the awareness of the influence of the pipe material on the design, installation and expected service life of HDPE pipelines installed by trenchless techniques.

Earlier that day, Jeroen presented a paper entitled “First installation of a PE100 HSCR pipe by Horizontal Directional Drilling in Yeppoon QLD” at the No-Dig conference.

This project was nominated in the category for installation of the year with project partners Iplex Pipelines, Maxibor Australia, and Livingstone Shire Council. You can watch the full Yeppoon Casueway Lake Underbore case study here:

The category 'New Installation of the Year' was won that night by Unitywater and Pipeline Drillers for the Caloundra Sewerage Transport System, which involved a total of five segments installed by horizontal directional drilling (HDD) including one of a record 1.6 km – Australia’s longest HDD bore for a DN900 HDPE pipe.

The pipe for this project was made by Vinidex using Qenos’ AlkadyneŽ HDF145B PE100 resin. You can watch a full case study on the project here:

Congratulations to Jeroen!
