QENOS NAMED MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR
06 June 2013, ALTONA
At a gala dinner held at Melbourne's Crown Palladium Ballroom on Thursday 6th June, Qenos took out the coveted Manufacturer of the Year award.
The Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame honours the champions of the manufacturing sector in the State of Victoria in Australia.
With over 800 people in attendance representing Government and various industry bodies including nanotechnology, pharmaceutical, food, electronics, chemicals, transport and energy, Damian Toohey, General Manager Strategy & Finance accepted the award on behalf of Qenos for its significant contribution to manufacturing in Australia and beyond.
The Qenos submission for this award was based on its recent $195m manufacturing expansion activities at its Altona Polyethylene facilities; Qenos's world first technology commercialising polyethylene for pipes for the water, mining and gas sectors and construction of the largest cogeneration facility undertaken in Australia in over a decade, as well as its continuing efforts in relation to sustainability and Safety Health & the Environment.
"Such a massive investment program would not have been possible without an innovative, highly technically skilled and dedicated group of employees at Qenos and our shareholders Bluestar, ChemChina and Blackstone, who believe in our capabilities and have provided continued support of our efforts," said Damian.
Qenos adds significant value to natural resources, creating high value products that contribute to conserve Australia’s resources and energy. Every day in our homes, factories and farms, Australians rely on products made from the polymers and chemicals produced by Qenos. From juice and milk bottles to mobile garbage bins, water tanks and pipes to packaging of cleaning products and food wrapping, Qenos polymers are everywhere.
As an organisation, Qenos is justifiably proud of this prestigious win.
