ALKATUFF® LL711UV
Qenos Alkatuff® LL711UV achieves outstanding performance in UV rating, strength and integrity, making it ideal for use in rotationally moulded tanks produced for the demanding Australian environment.
Alkatuff LL711UV was designed by Qenos to provide an outstanding level of protection against UV degradation (oxidation) for rotomoulded tanks. Incorporating a UV and thermal stabilisation package, Alkatuff® LL711UV enables tanks to withstand harsh climatic conditions and maintain their strength and integrity. Qenos uses twin-screw extruder technology to ensure thorough dispersion of the stabilisers within the polymer, so no part of the product is left unprotected.
Qenos is accredited by NATA to perform accelerated weathering testing to ASTM D2565 in a Xenon-Arc weatheromoter. Alkatuff® LL711UV performance exceeds Australian Standard AS/NZS 4766, which requires that a base resin retain a minimum of 50 per cent of its original tensile elongation after 8,000 hours exposure. Test results confirm that Alkatuff® LL711UV retains 100 per cent of its original tensile elongation after 20,000 hours exposure.
All Alkatuff® polymers are made using a hexene (C6) comonomer rather than a butene (C4) comonomer. International research and industry evaluation shows that hexene (C6) gives superior impact strength and better Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR). These are two important properties for the durability and lifetime of a rotationally moulded product.
Tanks made from Alkatuff® are inherently safe and ideal for water harvesting. All Alkatuff® LL711UV, LL705UV and LL755 resins have demonstrated compliance with the AS/NZS 4020 standard for testing of products for use in contact with drinking water. Further, Alkatuff® LL711UV conforms to all the polyethylene base resin requirements set out in the AS/NZS 4766 standard for polyethylene storage tanks for water and chemicals.
Ongoing product development and research into improved rotational moulding polymer design and performance are supported by the NATA accredited Qenos Technical Centre (NATA Accreditation 2649, 1914). Of course the Qenos manufacturing and laboratory facilities are fully certified to IS09001 Quality Management systems requirements.
